   Benefits of Holistic Therapies
Do you lead a hectic lifestyle and feel emotionally and physically exhausted at the end on the day?
Modern day schedules encourage us to act as 'super-people', this sacrifices time spent replenishing our energy reserves.

What are holistic therapies?
The term holism is defined as 'The treating of the whole person, including psychological and social factors rather than just symptoms of disease'.When a therapist uses touch, the body and mind respond on many levels. In addition to a purely sensory response; pressure and stretching on skin and muscle affect tensions in the body and changes occur in breathing rates and circulation, which in turn trigger the 'relaxation response'.

What is the current medical opinion regarding Holistic Therapies?
Many health practitioners now support this 'complementary' approach, particularly in the treatment of stress-related conditions.Touch therapy is non-invasive and current research indicates that it plays a valuable role in significantly reducing problems associated with stress, tension and anxiety.

Holistic therapy can be beneficial - but it is not intended to diagnose or to replace professional medical attention, indeed it often works in conjunction with this. With this aim, we advise you to consult your doctor initially if you have any current medical issues.

What benefits can these therapies offer?
Holistic therapies can provide the following physical and psychological benefits;·
  • Reduction of stress, tension and anxiety·
  • Improve the circulation·
  • Assist lymphatic drainage·
  • Revitalise and replenish energy levels·
  • Induce deep levels of relaxation·
  • Promote a sense of well being·
  • Soothe muscular aches and pains·
  • Relieve insomnia·
  • Improve function of immune system·
  • Increase mental clarity and awareness
What happens when I attend the clinic?
On your first visit we conduct a detailed consultation, to ensure there are no contra-indications to your chosen treatment, to enable us to be sure of your objectives, and to give you the option to ask any questions you may have. This consultation can vary in time scale, according to the complexity of your medical history, and provides us with the crucial information we need to allow us to adapt the treatment to suit individual requirements. We will discuss and explain the treatment chosen, and may hand blend essential oils to enhance the therapy.
This treatment involves a variety of different massage techniques designed to help improve circulation, muscle tone and enhance lymphatic drainage. The combination of these movements aids delivery of fresh oxygen and nutrients to the body tissues and also speeds up the elimination of toxins from the body.

Aromatherapy massage is a gentle, soothing treatment combining the natural scents and therapeutic benefits of essential oils with the comforting, caring and restorative value of massage.

This type of massage involves the manipulation of soft tissue using specific massage techniques. It can help to break down muscular knots and adhesions and therefore improve muscle tone, joint mobility and performance.

This deeply relaxing treatment cleanses and nourishes the skin and soothes and tones the muscles. The massage techniques used are effective in easing away stress and tension, leaving your skin refreshed and instilling a wonderful feeling of calm and tranquillity. A luxurious and delightful indulgent treatment.

CHAMPISSAGE (Indian Head and neck Massage)
This is an advanced form of an Indian therapy that has been used for thousands of years. This treatment focuses on the upper body and shoulder, the neck and scalp and the face; the areas vulnerable to tension. This massage can be performed through clothing, either in an upright or specially designed chair.

For massage connoisseurs, the most wonderful experience! This therapy is perfect for alleviating tension and anxiety; it involves being drizzled with specially blended warm essential oils, and being massaged from head to toe by two qualified therapists, using gentle synchronised movements. The sensation is decadent, luxurious and combines to envelop, soothe, balance and deeply relax both the body and even the most chaotic minds.

This is a combination of advanced massage techniques and the use of warmed lava stones. This allows warmth to penetrate the muscles, releasing deep tensions, stimulating the circulation and aiding lymphatic drainage. This is a delightful sensation and has to be experienced - feel the stresses and strains melt away!

The ancient art of reflexology has been known to man for thousands of years and is used to induce deep relaxation and balance. During treatment, reflex points on the feet are worked thereby helping to rebalance the corresponding body area.

Mikao Usui rediscovered this ancient art of natural healing in Japan at the end of the 19th century. The word Reiki means "Universal life force energy" and a Reiki treatment merely channels the energy into the recipient. The body uses this energy to rebalance the energy flow throughout the body and thus to harmonise itself.

Learn the gentle healing art of Reiki for yourself. This introductory course is run over two days and will teach you how to treat yourself, friends and family. Course content includes:·
