HILL HOUSE was built by John Thomas Becher in 1800 (and extended later), he also built the nearby Thurgarton Workhouse, now owned by the National Trust.

THE TOWN is set in open countryside, with many delightful and varied walks, yet only 7 miles from Newark with a direct line to London King's Cross (75 minutes), Doncaster, Leeds and Edinburgh.
