Holy Trinity Church of
England School is housed in a Victorian building in a beautiful location on
Westgate, next to Holy Trinity Church.
At present there are two classes, Reception/Year 1/Year 2. We also have a
pre-school, called the Early Learners Group. |
| EARLY LEARNERS
|
This takes place in
attractive accommodation next to the school. We have a maximum of 14 children
and the group is run by two Teaching Assistants under the supervision of the
Headteacher. Children are able to attend 5 session. The children's activities
are planned and assessed in line with the Early Learning Goals.
In March 2000 Ofsted Inspectors said: |
"Children develop very good relationships with staff. There
is very good teaching of basic skills".
|
| KEY STAGE 1
|
Children are admitted to
full-time schooling at the start of the term in which they are five. The
Foundation stage of the National Curriculum extends from Early Learners to the
end of Reception Year. Staff are very experienced, and have a high expectation
of children's work and behaviour. The small size of the school gives it a very
special family atmosphere.
In March 2000 Ofsted Inspectors said: |
"This
is a good school where the level of pupils' achievements is high. Attainment in
English and Mathematics is well above average. The whole school provides a very
caring but stimulating environment where pupils develop well".
|
| AFTER SCHOOL CLUB |
| An After School Club is
run in the cottage until 5:45pm each night. This is organised by a committee
and has two staff with no more than 14 children each night. Details can be
obtained from the school. |
